Empowering women through art.

Healing is Creative.

Beautifully Broken, Inc. (BBI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency dedicated to women’s health and wholeness. BBI utilizes art as the therapeutic avenue to recover from life’s traumas and challenges. Beautifully Broken was founded in 2015 by Sandy Bishop Maynard with the support of Second Chance Center. After working with her peers as a recreational artist for several years, Sandy felt moved by her vision to open an art studio for trauma survivors to empower each other and heal through creativity. BBI carves out a safe, nonjudgmental space to unwind, make art, and be present to help women recover from personal traumas and challenges. Creation can help survivors process aspects of trauma that can be hard to talk about by building community and solidarity around issues of violence.

Art Therapy.

Creating art helps you to release inner tension, calm down, and clarify one’s struggles. Expressing thoughts and emotions visually alongside peers can help people to discover creative ways to solve problems and think through issues constructively. Artistic expression promotes reflection and holistic healing.
